MEET YOUR FIRST WARD CITY COMMISSIONER
Hello, I'm AliciaMarie Belchak, and I'm honored to serve as your City Commissioner for Grand Rapids' First Ward. I ran for this office because I believe in a city that works for all of us -- a city where families can afford to live, small businesses can thrive, and our neighborhoods feel safe, vibrant, and welcoming.
As the first woman elected to represent the First Ward, I know this role carries both responsibility and opportunity. I'm committed to leading with integrity, transparency, and impact. I am working on real solutions that improve the daily lives of our residents.
Since I'm making this role my full-time focus, I am able to bring my entire background in journalism, environmental science, and community advocacy to this work. Just like in the rest of my career, I'm fighting for working families, sustainable growth, healthy environments, and a stronger local economy.
Now I get to serve on several committees and boards where I help shape policies that directly impact our community -- from housing and economic development to public services. But more than anything, I believe the best ideas come from the people who live and work here -- YOU!
